The best way to get to know Woodgreen is to come visit us! But here are a few important things about us:

We are Christians – We are devoted to and called by our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. He is the Son of God and the only way of salvation for sinners. We worship, proclaim and serve Jesus Christ.

We are Evangelical – Contrary to the steady stream of tragic news in our world today, we believe that the truest reality is good news. That is, this world was created by a benevolent God who has shown His great love for His people by sending His Son Jesus Christ to die for their sins. Jesus reveals to us that God is gracious, and that he will save , and raise up to eternal life, all who trust in Him. That’s good news worth sharing!

We are Reformed – We identify theologically with the return to biblical faithfulness that occurred during the 16th century Protestant Reformation.

We are Confessional – A confession is simply a statement of what one believes that the Bible teaches. All Christians have a confession, whether it is written down or not. Having a confession that is written down allows us to be upfront about our beliefs, and we can be held accountable to teach and act consistently with them. We accept as a subordinate standard to the scriptures the Westminster Confession of Faith, along with the Larger (Part 1, Part 2) and Shorter Catechisms. We also recognize the clear expression of the Christian faith contained within the Apostle’s Creed, the Nicene Creed, and other orthodox statements of faith.

We are Presbyterian – The word Presbyterian refers to the way that our congregation is governed and to our emphasis on the unity of the broader Church. The New Testament shows us that God’s people are to be under the care and oversight of a plurality of local elders (presbyters). Likewise, we believe congregations should be connected to one another for mutual support and accountability. We are part of a denomination called the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA).

We are Covenantal – God does not merely save people as individuals. He has made a covenant (a binding agreement) to save sinners together in one body, the Church of Jesus Christ. We cherish the biblical teaching that God welcomes the children of believers as part of His people and so we seek to nurture our children in the faith.

We are a Family – As a family, we spend time together, getting to know one another, encouraging one another, and developing close friendships. We extend this hospitality to visitors and those who are interested in Jesus. The love we share makes Jesus known, strengthens our marriages and families, and edifies the body of believers.
